a) Over 10 years of Indian classical vocals training in Khayaal genre, Banaras Gharana style. b) Currently training in Dhrupad genre, Dagarvani style. c) 6 years diploma in Indian Classical Vocals from Khairagarh University, Chhattisgarh. d) Also Trained in Thumri, Ghazal, Bhajan and Film music. e) Won several competitions at state & national level. f) Teaching Indian classical Vocals for the past 7 years actively

Natural talent is NOT a requirement for starting Singing lessons. ANYONE can learn how to sing & you can start at any age. It's just like studying yoga. Flexibility is not a mandatory requirement in the beginning. It is something you develop as a result of studying yoga. I teach music like a language. I help the students develop basic grammar, vocabulary & a better voice with the help of scientifically approved vocal training methods.

More About Me
Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I started learning music when I was 8 years old because my mother wanted me to. Initially, I was interested in music only because it was very different from the subjects I used to learn in school and because I used to get appreciated for my singing. As a kid, neither did I understand the intricacies of music nor did I enjoy long practice sessions; what I did enjoy was listening to music which helped me in developing a deeper understanding of the subject and also my interest towards it.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why
A friend of mine suggested that I should teach music and share whatever I've learned because it's a two way process which will help me grow. Teaching has made me explore my music furthermore, impelled me to think creatively and has contributed in building my confidence.
How does your work help society?
Teachers are a vital part of the society. They offer knowledge and guidance. Being a music teacher, I try to pass on my own knowledge of the subject to my students which helps them in developing various musical skills.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
I can't think of any one role model to mention here as there are many people and experiences that have influenced my work. My teaching process is a product of all that I've learned in the last 12 years of my music education. It's an amalgamation of observations that I've made of my teachers and of other people whom I admire and look up to.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
My hobbies other than teaching include singing, watching movies, dancing, nature gazing, watching food videos, eating and cooking. I am not a regular reader but I do enjoy reading whenever I get the chance to.

Perfect! Honest and dedicated to her craft: I have been learning classical singing from Shivangi for nearly 2 years with no previous experience in singing. She has very patiently worked with me, teaching me the basics of classical singing. She kept motivating me through the journey as there are times when I find it difficult to progress. I am learning singing only as a hobby but even then she leaves no stone unturned in teaching the finest nuances of classical singing and pushes me to achieve perfection in my singing. She is also very honest in her approach, as on some days we have to finish the class few mins. early if I have some other commitments but she ensures that whatever time was left is covered in the next class. Over the last 2 years she has answered countless questions related to singing/music, some of them might be very basic/stupid due to lack of my knowledge but she always patiently answers them. I would thoroughly recommend Shivangi as a teacher if anyone is looking to learn singing.
