More About Me
Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
My passion for mathematics has been ingrained in me since my early academic years. Excelling in mathematics in both my 10th and 12th grades, where I scored a perfect 100/100, fueled my fascination with the subject. This interest deepened during my BSc in Mathematics at the University of Rajasthan, where I delved into various mathematical concepts and theories. Additionally, my brief stint at IIT Madras further solidified my understanding of the subject and its applications.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
My motivation to teach stems from a desire to impart knowledge and make a positive impact on society. From a young age, I found joy in helping my peers understand complex mathematical concepts, which eventually led me to start giving math tuitions while still in college. The satisfaction of seeing my students grasp challenging topics and excel in their academics has been a driving force behind my decision to pursue teaching as a profession.
How does your work help society?
Through my work as a teacher, I aim to empower individuals with essential mathematical skills that are crucial for their personal and professional growth. By providing free tuition to underprivileged children through my involvement with an NGO, I contribute to bridging the educational gap and promoting inclusivity in society. Ultimately, my goal is to equip students with the tools they need to succeed academically and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
When it comes to role models in teaching, I draw inspiration from educators who are passionate about their subjects and dedicated to nurturing young minds. One such role model for me is Srinivasa Ramanujan, a brilliant mathematician whose love for numbers transcended barriers and continues to inspire mathematicians and educators worldwide. Ramanujan's unwavering commitment to his craft and his ability to overcome adversity serve as a constant reminder of the transformative power of education.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy a variety of hobbies that help me unwind and stay active. I am an avid cricket enthusiast and often participate in friendly matches with friends and colleagues. I also find solace in long bike rides, which allow me to explore new places and clear my mind. Additionally, I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and playing badminton, which help me stay fit and rejuvenated. Lastly, I find great joy in engaging with people from diverse backgrounds, as I believe in the power of meaningful conversations and building connections.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
One memorable anecdote from my teaching experience involves a student who initially struggled with understanding calculus concepts. Through personalized attention and innovative teaching methods, I worked closely with the student to break down complex topics and build a strong foundation. Over time, I witnessed a remarkable transformation as the student not only grasped difficult concepts but also developed a newfound confidence in their mathematical abilities. This experience reaffirmed my belief in the importance of individualized instruction and the profound impact it can have on a student's academic journey.
