About Me
My name is Gowri and I am from Kerala. I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s in science and I am a final year student. I have been teaching guitar and ukulele for the past 3 years and it has been a wonderful journey so far. I have been fortunate enough to tutor a set of wonderful students so far and along the way I have learned and evolved a lot. Ukulele is very easy once you get a hold of the guitar and also the other way around. I'm familiar with the chords and all that you need to play a song.

Master Guitar/Ukulele in 3 steps I learned from my 5 years of teaching experience!
After three years of teaching the guitar and ukulele, I think I may have found out a simple and reliable method for you to get started with the instruments. My teaching style is all about flexibility to suit your needs. We'll focus on chords together, and you'll be able to play the guitar or ukulele with you or someone else singing along. I'll adapt the pace to your comfort, ensuring you grasp the concepts completely. Don't worry about falling behind; I'll keep everyone on the right track. No printed books required – our lessons will be interactive and engaging. If you have any questions or doubts, feel free to ask me anytime. Additionally, I also offer daily ukulele lessons for people who have a month to spare. For a much lower cost, I teach you the basics of the instrument from A to Z, so at the end of the month, you will be ready to sing along with it (conditions applied!). I'm here to support your musical journey!

More About Me
Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I got into playing the guitar back in high school, and it all began with some good old fun. I vividly remember those days when I'd pick up the guitar, strumming away for hours. It became a go-to hobby whenever I had free time. Once I got the hang of playing the guitar, I decided to branch out a bit. That's when I dipped my toes into the world of the ukulele. It's been quite a journey ever since, and I've thoroughly enjoyed exploring the unique charm of both instruments.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
Teaching has always been my passion. It started when I tutored my sister during my school days, despite struggling with patience at first. Over time, I've honed this skill, and my students can attest to my patience. Teaching is incredibly engaging, and it's not just about imparting knowledge; it also fuels my personal growth. The process of helping others learn and grow has made me a better person, both in terms of patience and understanding. This is why I'm motivated to continue teaching - it's fulfilling, and it brings out the best in me.
How does your work help society?
Teaching guitar and ukulele is my way of contributing to society by helping individuals express themselves through music. Learning to play these instruments empowers students to convey their emotions and creativity through melodies and chords, which I find incredibly rewarding. Witnessing their growth as they overcome challenges and gain a new skill boosts not only their musical confidence but also their overall self-assurance. It's fulfilling to see this newfound confidence positively affect different aspects of their lives. Furthermore, I take pride in being part of their musical journey, offering them a lifelong source of enjoyment and relaxation that enhances their mental well-being and contributes to the happiness of our community.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
My hobbies encompass a diverse range of interests that keep me engaged and fulfilled. Reading opens doors to new worlds and ideas, expanding my knowledge and imagination. Watching movies allows me to explore different narratives and perspectives, offering both entertainment and insights. I find joy in capturing moments through photography, being both the observer and the muse, which fuels my creativity. Moreover, I am dedicated to continual self-improvement by actively seeking opportunities to learn and grow. These hobbies not only provide me with relaxation and enjoyment but also contribute to my personal development.

Ramya
Perfect! Gowri is perhaps the most patient of all teachers I have seen. Being a beginner at the age of 40, she never let me feel that was a weakness and converted that into a strength. With constant encouragement and motivation, I have begun to enjoy the sessions. Thanks Gowri for accepting me as your student.

Perfect! Gowri is a great teacher!! She gives her all and makes sure one learns a lesson thoroughly. She gives us homeworks and assignments on the lessons taught that day so that one learns regularly, also allowing us to find our own strumming patterns and tabs to a song. She allows us to make mistakes and correct them. She was really kind throughout our classes and is an amazing guitarist and singer!!
