More About Me
Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
Hindi is my mother tongue. Being a native Hindi speaker, my love for Hindi language is incomparable. It is simply beautiful. Moreover, my Hindi teacher played a major role is developing my interest in Hindi grammar and literature as well. I loved Hindi as a subject during my schools days.Its grammar, especially the tenses are so capable or expressing moments in time. There are so many languages originated through Hindi. I believe it's the language of heart and it can help you express your feelings into words.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
During my college days, I got the chance to meet students from different corners of the country. We even had some exchange programs where I met international students as well who were struggling in speaking Hindi.Being a nation of diverse languages, Hindi is not the mother tongue of many people in India. I saw students facing difficulties in speaking the language. Hence, out of love and curiosity, I used to teach them Hindi and they were really happy learning it. I think their happiness and satisfaction was my only motivation to teach Hindi.
How does your work help society?
Language is something that helps one in expressing his thoughts. It gives you the chance to connect with new people.When talking about Hindi, we know that it's our national language but still half of the country struggles in speaking Hindi. This makes it difficult to connect with people from different part of the country and even migrate for studies or jobs as people hesitate in starting a conversation. I believe that learning a language helps in widening your network and gaining acceptance.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
As I mentioned above, my Hindi school teacher has always been my role model. Her patience and a positive attitude towards the students inspired me to be a good teacher.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Well, besides teaching, I love singing and sketching. These are some things that make me feel alive.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
I had a student from the UK, London who wanted to learn Hindi just to impress her fiancé and his parents. I taught her Hindi for 5 months I believe and she was able to speak in Hindi by her wedding. I felt really happy for her. I believe love has no language but when you put efforts in any relationship, it blooms.
