Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
My interest in teaching blossomed from a convergence of personal experiences and a deep-seated passion for sharing knowledge. Throughout my own educational journey, I found joy in assisting peers and explaining complex concepts. Inspired by remarkable educators who ignited my curiosity and fostered a love for learning, I recognized the transformative impact teachers can have on students' lives. Witnessing firsthand the power of education to empower and uplift individuals fueled my desire to pursue teaching as a career. The prospect of shaping young minds, fostering critical thinking, and contributing positively to society resonated deeply with me. Thus, my interest in teaching emerged as a natural extension of my commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others through education.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
I find inspiration from exceptional teachers who embody passion, dedication, and a genuine commitment to their students' growth. Witnessing their transformative impact on students' lives motivates me to strive for excellence in my own teaching practice.
How does your work help society?
Teaching is the cornerstone of societal progress, empowering individuals with knowledge, skills, and values that drive positive change. By equipping students with critical thinking abilities and fostering a love for learning, teaching cultivates a more informed and engaged citizenry. This leads to collaborative efforts in addressing societal challenges and building a stronger, more cohesive community.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
One of my role models for teaching is Mr. Sumesh, my high school biology teacher.I choose him because of his unwavering dedication to his student's success and his innovative approach to teaching.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy various hobbies that allow me to relax, recharge, and explore different interests. One of my favorite pastimes is reading, particularly fiction and non-fiction books on a wide range of topics. I find that reading not only provides entertainment but also stimulates my curiosity and expands my knowledge.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
In the university laboratory, Maya, my diligent biology student, embarked on a genetics experiment. Faced with a challenging task, she recalled her childhood fascination with tadpoles. Guided by curiosity, Maya meticulously analyzed DNA samples, unlocking genetic mysteries. As she decoded sequences, a sense of wonder enveloped her, reaffirming her passion for biology. Inspired by the intricate dance of genes, Maya embraced the complexities of life with renewed zeal. This pivotal moment ignited her determination to unravel nature's secrets, propelling her on a lifelong journey of discovery and scientific inquiry. In that laboratory, Maya found her true calling as a biologist.
