More About Me
Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
My journey with music started in early childhood. I was always drawn to singing participating in school choirs ( I am a convent school student :) ), leading morning prayers, and performing in competitions, often without prior preparation. These early recognitions gave me both confidence and clarity that music was my true calling. By the age of five, I formally began training in Indian classical music. Over the years, I immersed myself deeply in the art and gradually expanded into learning multiple instruments including the harmonium, piano, ukulele, and guitar. Each of these has helped shape my musical expression and added different textures to my performance and teaching styles.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
Teaching music brings me immense satisfaction. There's a unique joy in witnessing the transformation of my students : their confidence, skill, and happiness as they grow in their musical journeys. One of the biggest motivations for me is seeing the peace and fulfilment they experience after learning music. Many express genuine gratitude, and the trust they place in me as their mentor is deeply humbling. This emotional connection and the responsibility it carries push me to become a better teacher every day. It's also my way of preserving and passing on the legacy of Indian classical music. In today's AI generated world music keeps us raw and emotional being.
How does your work help society?
Music serves as a powerful emotional release and healing force. Through my work, I've seen people-especially working professionals-use music and instrument learning as a meaningful escape from the stress of modern life and toxic work environments. Many of my students are fulfilling childhood dreams by finally learning to sing or play an instrument. Whether it's live performances, online content, or one-on-one teaching, I strive to make music more accessible, enjoyable, and enriching for all. In that sense, it becomes more than just art-it becomes therapy, joy, and connection. As, it is said everyone should learn at least one instrument in their lives.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
I've been fortunate to have my late maternal grandfather as a strong moral and emotional influence in my life. His wisdom, kindness, and teachings have always guided me to stay grounded, work hard, and remain sincere. At the same time, I also consider my future self as a role model-the version of me that is even more knowledgeable, wise, and musically evolved. I constantly strive to grow into that person through learning, discipline, and compassion. Music learnings are endless.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Outside of music, I love cooking and experimenting with different recipes-it's something that brings me peace and joy. I'm also passionate about sustainable living and often explore organic, eco-friendly alternatives in my daily life. These interests help me stay balanced and grounded creatively and personally.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
There are several moments that stay close to my heart. One unforgettable experience was when I sang for television show for the first time. At that time, I was living in a hostel and didn't own a TV. I ended up watching my performance at the home of the lady who served food in our mess. Hearing my own voice on television for the first time in that humble setting was a deeply emotional moment.Another source of joy is when my students share photos or videos of their performances with me. Seeing them apply what they've learned and proudly present it on stage or online fills me with pride and reinforces the impact of teaching. Their success is my biggest reward.
