Author of a book for French beginners called 'Belle Culture' (published on Amazon Kindle Store), I'm passionate about teaching French to all the age-groups. I have 8 years of experience of teaching French, right from A1 to B1. I make sure you enjoy learning French rather than taking it as a subject through interactive activities like role plays, visual tour of France, workshops like making crepes, listening to French audio CDs, which makes learning a 'fun experience'. An emphasis on spoken French along with these interactive activities will help you ace speaking and listening part. Limited students per batch leads to open and free environment to ask questions. I help the students individually to solve their doubts and help in pronunciations. My pronunciation rules are very helpful and if applied, 90% of times you get the French pronunciation correct, all on your own! My Notes are very useful to lay down a strong foundation for grammar. More About Me
Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
It was during my college years that I developed an interest in learning French. I felt that every new word had a novelty factor attached to it and I was very curious to learn new vocabulary! Eventually, when I could speak fluent French, I felt very confident and content! I fell in love with French culture too!
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
My then teacher taught me the grammar in a lucid manner. She encouraged me to pursue a Diploma in French and appear for DELF exams. Since then, I have never looked back! I also try to encourage my students to appear for competitive exams and pass with flying colors.
How does your work help society?
My teaching styles help in understanding the basics first - the pronunciation and the grammar, from my own hand-written book. I start with Phonetics to make the students independent enough to pronounce any word on their own. The primary reason for a non-native speaker to find listening to French difficult is not knowing the relationship of pronunciation with spelling and the similarity of sounds of certain words. Basically, if you don't know the logic behind the pronunciation of a particular word, you are unlikely to ace the listening part. In short, not knowing the spelling-sound relationship at the very beginning of French learning can be a deal-breaker. In my class, the students apply the pronunciation rules & read on their own and I correct them if the need be. This not only improves their reading capability but also their confidence! After every grammar concept, we interact in French so as to practice that concept. This interaction really helps to ace the speaking & listening skills!
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
My role model for my work was my teacher, who used to include a lot of interactive activities, to make the learning process fun!
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
I'm passionate about reading, especially the case studies on business, the books giving meaningful insights on business management, etc. I also love playing tennis and traveling! Of course, France is my go-to place!
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
One of my students had joined me right from the A1 level and he liked my way of teaching so much that he never used to miss my class! He became very good at French pronunciation and could speak confidently! He was just 5 years old! I take pride in the fact that I was able to teach such small kids while maintaining their interest in the language.
