About Me

I am an Electrical & Electronics engineer from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. I have been active in creative writing, theater & spiritual meditation. I did my matriculation from ICSE board with 95.4%. I secured AIR 17,092 in IIT JEE 2016 & AIR 2760 in COMED-K 2016. I have been coaching young minds for the last 6 yrs. I have worked for a short duration with Cognizant and gave up the job to continue with preparation for Civil Services. I am tutoring children & students from last 4 years, as I love doing this, and during this course, I have learned how & why children like or dislike a subject. I firmly believe in Albert Einstein's idea of " Imagination is more important than knowledge." Come witness education from a fresh perspective of curiosity! Looking forward to see you in my free demo class.

Qualified IIT JEE 2016, Electrical & Electronics engineer, UPSC Civil Service Aspirant, love to guide young minds to curiosity & imagination!

It is my primary aim to ignite a flame of curiosity in the child, towards the world that envelops him/ her. My approach to teaching involves exploring Science and Mathematics in a fun and entertaining manner as much as possible! Since we humans are all so different in so many ways, be it in the genres of shows, the movies or even the books we like, it's important that the way we learn and grow too diversifies beyond the same sort of generic broad-spectrum educational treatment we have often been exposed to. This is why at the heart of my methodology lies focusing my effort on just one or two learners instead of branching out and incorporating as my people and classes as I can make time for. That way quality is given vastly more priority than quantity and each class proves to be both fulfilling and fun. I also lay a great deal of emphasis on the teacher student bond as I believe that it not just makes me accessible & approachable for my student, but also removes any trifling hesitation or emotional blockage that the student might be facing. This is why you may sometimes find me cordially talking with my student on some of his/ her personal interests as well! Also, I encourage my students to dedicate a few minutes everyday to meditation/ mindfulness exercises as well. Being a practitioner myself, I can personally vouch for their benefits in improving focus & retention in studies as well as positively impacting life in general. Also, I encourage students to participate in International & Regional Olympiads and help them prepare for them as well. These are excellent platforms for honing the academic mettle of the student. In a nutshell, instead of me posing questions to the students, I push them to put up questions to themselves, find answers and guide them in the process. I do not believe in giving them the fish. I believe in teaching them how to fish! After that, there is nothing a 21st century mind can't achieve. Thanks a ton for reading this through! Just give me one chance and see how its goes, I promise you that I'll make sure your child enjoys the learning experience to the very last minute! See you in my free demo class!

More About Me

Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I had general interest towards Maths & Science even before my schooling began. The roots, of course, lay in my upbringing. My grandfather was an agricultural scientist and he always encouraged my curiosity, never turning down or setting aside even the silliest of my questions and doubts. This gave me a taste for original thinking, which is also one of my primary targets in my teaching technique. I used to discuss stuff with my science teachers in school.Later on, the preparation for IIT JEE gave me the opportunity to learn Science & Maths from close quarters and in depth. I developed a particular liking for Physics, as I felt it closer and more inter wined with the real world and its laws. I still find it very intriguing to imagine the problems of Mechanics before solving them. And I encourage my students to do the same- to feel and enjoy the journey of the topic/ problem rather than the result.

What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

As I already told, my grandfather, who was an agricultural scientist, was my first window to reasoning, curiosity & imagination. Also, my father is a veterinary professor. So, as I was always exposed to how the right manner of education could change one's outlook towards life, I had a natural knack for teaching. I discovered it first when I started teaching my siblings & cousins. Later in school, being one of the class toppers, I used to discuss many topics within my friend circle as well as with teachers. Finally, on reaching college, I started teaching students professionally to financially support myself. During the last 4 years that I have been teaching, I discovered how satisfying this profession can be. I love doing this.

How does your work help society?

It is my firm belief that education is both the root as well as the solution to all of world's problems today. Be it corruption, crime, domestic violence, riots, pollution, eve teasing or rash driving - all these are due to some or the other fault in the convict's education. And by education, I don't just mean Maths & Science. Subjects are just a part of education. Real education is achieved when the student develops his own thinking ability, so that he/she can decide for himself/herself what's right and what's not. Such a student can never be manipulated into something like religious extremism. Also, a real educated person knows the art of living happily and coherently with his/ her environment. My idea as well as purpose of imparting education involves all of these goals. If I am able to instill even 20% of these qualities in my students, I shall consider myself successful.

If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

There are many examples of personalities who have given ideas about how education should be. In the current scenario, I find the ideas of Shri Manish Sisodia, honourable education minister of Delhi, the most relevant and inspiring. He has turned around the face of almost 1000 government schools in Delhi and the fate of lakhs of students - a feat that could not be achieved by several governments in the last 50 years. The improvements are not just on the infrastructure level, but have also affected the very purpose of education. There have been instance of parents taking their children out of private schools and putting them into Delhi government's schools! He took several steps to bring about this change, for instance, the Happiness Curriculum. He has written about all these in detail in his book titled "Shiksha: My experiments as an Education Minister".

Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I am a creative writer. I write stories, poems, shayaris, screenplays as well as articles. One of the platforms I write on is YourQuote. Apart from this, I have been active in theater in my college - writing and directing plays & one acts. I like to keep myself fit and thus get involved in fitness activities like running or sports- particularly football. Of course, I like to read and listen to good carnatic music. Khaled Hosseini & Munshi Premchand are some of my favourite writers!

Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

There is an engineering subject called CAED - Computer Aided Engineering Drawing/Design. It is considered one of the most difficult subjects and a lot of students get backlog in this subject. When I started class for this subject in my first semester, I couldn't understand a line of what was being taught for the first three lectures. After the third day, I thought of changing my approach. Instead of trying to understand, I started trying to imagine. I closed all books & notes and started visualizing how an object will be designed from its top, front & side views and how its portrayal will change when it's turned. By the next class, I almost began predicting the next thing the professor was going to show! That entire semester, I taught CAED to more than half of my batch mates! From all this, my faith in Einstein's famous quote became even stronger- Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Perfect! Adarsh Sir has ben an excellent teacher for my son Amogh. His strength lies in introducing mathematical concepts in a manner of making you understand how a formula has evolved rather than learning them by heart or mugging up a formula. This has helped my son to be able to appreciate the subject instead of feeling nervous which he felt before taking up this tution. Also appreciate his quality of being patient with the learning.
