I make the subject clear by giving practical examples which are relatable to the topic. Weekly tests are conducted to evaluate students' learning levels. Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
As a Science and Math teacher with a Ph.D. in Chemistry, I bring a comprehensive understanding of scientific principles, mathematical applications, and the intricate details of chemistry to my teaching. My passion for science and mathematics developed early on, leading me to pursue advanced degrees in both fields. I aim to create an engaging learning environment where students can explore the interconnections between science and math, fostering a deep understanding and a love for these subjects. My research experience and dedication to effective communication enable me to inspire students and nurture their scientific curiosity.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
The motivation behind my choice to teach stems from my desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students. I am inspired by the opportunity to share my knowledge, ignite curiosity, and empower students to reach their full potential. Witnessing their growth and development as they grasp complex concepts brings me immense joy and fulfillment.
How does your work help society?
My work as a teacher helps society by equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world. By fostering scientific literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, I contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals who can actively participate in and contribute to society. Additionally, by promoting a love for learning and intellectual curiosity, I strive to instill a lifelong passion for education, leading to a more informed and engaged citizenry.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
My role model for my work as a teacher is Dr. Marie Curie. Her passion for scientific exploration, dedication to education, and groundbreaking discoveries serve as an inspiration for me in my teaching practice.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy various hobbies that enrich my life. I have a passion for photography, capturing moments and scenes that inspire me. Additionally, I find relaxation and mindfulness in spending time in nature, whether it's hiking or gardening. These hobbies provide a balance to my professional life and fuel my creativity and personal growth.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
I had a student who struggled with understanding chemical equations. By designing a hands-on activity using colored balls to represent atoms, they had an "aha" moment and grasped the concept. It reminded me of the power of experiential learning and the impact teachers can have on students' understanding and confidence.
